- From this page you can download reports containing lists of the rare animals, plants and natural communities known from each HUC8 watershed in Georgia. HUC8 stands for Hydrologic Unit Code 8 digits. It is a system devised by the US Geological Survey for defining watersheds and has been in wide use for many years.
- Reports downloaded from this page are in Rich Text Format (*.rtf) and have been tested to render properly in MS Word 2000 and the free OpenOffice.org 1.1 Writer. Even if text is not rendered faithfully as intended, the reports should be readable by any modern word processor.
- These lists are for rare species and natural communities that are KNOWN to occur within a given watershed and for which we have records of the locations in our databases. They should not be confused with lists of POTENTIAL elements for a given area. These potential lists are distributed by our office, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and others. Potential elements lists include both those elements that are know to occur within a given area and those whose theoretical range intersects the area of interest and may show up within the region as more surveys are conducted.
